Black Sunglasses – Practical Care Tips For Everyday Life

More than being fashion apparel, black sunglasses can be considered an investment. Prescription and non-prescription sunglasses already became part of the daily lives for most people. Sports shades are in no doubt an important gadget for sportsmen and active people. Thus, utmost care should be taken to keep your sunglasses in the best possible condition. Here are some basic tips:

Check
Make sure that screws and hinges are in perfect condition. Sunglasses have small mechanical parts that are subject to wear and tear and loosening. Loose screws and hinges should be repaired at once. You can visit your optician to fix the screws for you. But if you are an outgoing person, travel a lot, or love do-it-yourself stuff, you can tighten it yourself by using a small screwdriver. Mini screwdrivers can be bought individually or in sets and you can bring it along anywhere.

Keep proper alignment for your sunglasses. Position yourself in front of a mirror and hold the sunglasses so that the lens and frame is facing the mirror. Visually check the alignment of lens and frame. You can also do this by having a “feel” of your sunglasses. Just wear your glass and feel if there are some changes in the fitting. If your sunglasses has been misaligned, ask an optician for a frame adjustment.

Look for surface scratches. Some sunglasses comes with a warranty against lens scratches. If you often experience scratches, you might want to consider glass lenses because they are the most scratch-resistant lens in the market.

Clean
You should clean your sunglasses as often as needed. Here are some basic cleaning instructions: Rinse the sunglasses thoroughly with lukewarm water. Position the lens between your thumb and forefinger and gently rub both sides. You can also use lotion-free dishwashing liquid while rubbing the lens. Do the same for the frame and other parts of the sunglasses. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry them thoroughly with lint-free cloth. You might also want to use microfiber lens cleaning cloth for instant lens cleaning.

Protect
Keep your sunglasses in its case when not in use. This will prevent dust from accumulating in the surface. This will also protect your glass against damages caused by falling on the floor, bumping on hard surfaces, and other physical contacts.

When your case is not yet available, leave the temples open and place your sunglasses in a flat surface upside down. The ear hook should be pointing upwards and the glass should be resting on the top of its eyewire and temples.

Other Tips
Wipe the sweat off your sunglasses immediately. This can damage special coating and finishing of your glass. In some cases, you can ask an optician to recoat your sunglasses. Do not leave your glass in hot or cold surfaces.

Remember that sunglasses are different with one another. Care instructions might also be different so make sure to read it first before using your black sunglasses.
