Fixing Your Rimless Glasses

The trends for glasses keep changing with rimless ones being one of the most popular type of glasses. There are several reasons why these rimless glasses are popular. One, they provide high levels of comfort owing to their light size. These rimless glasses are also stylish, trendy and easy to wear. However, the drawback is that these glasses are not very durable. Therefore, if you own a rimless pair of spectacles as I do, you may need to carry out minor repairs.

It is moderately easy to repair these rimless glasses and all you will generally need are replacement screws and nose pads. Firstly, check the broken spectacles and find out what needs to be repaired. Usually, repairs would involve fixing loose screws, broken nose pads or rimless frames. Sometimes, repairs would involve changing the lenses itself. Loose or missing screws can be repaired easily using a screwdriver and the replacement screws that you will need to have.

Carefully remove or tighten the loose screw and insert or replace with another if lost. Then place a new screw onto the frame and use the screwdriver to tighten it. When doing so, do not over tighten the screw as doing so may cause the glasses to crack.

If the rimless glasses have a broken or missing nose pad, fixing it will only take a moment. Ensure that you have a spare nose pad ready so that you can quickly change it. Place the new nose pad in the bracket and then replace the screw in the bracket. Use the screwdriver to tighten it.

The most difficult aspect of repairing your glasses would be when there is a popped lens. In order to fix this, you will need to have a rimless eyeglass cord. If you carefully look at your rimless spectacles, you will see that it has a tiny groove surrounding the perimeter of the lenses. Firstly, keep the frames in place on the nose bridge and then place the lens on the top portion of the eyeglass cord to fit it into the groove of the lens. Once the lens is in place, you are ready to insert the rimless eyeglass cord between this cord and the exterior portion of the lens.

Place the cord on the frames into the groove till reaching interior portion of the lens. By applying light pressure on the perimeter of the lens, make sure that the cord fits firmly in the groove of the lens. Once this is done and lens is firmly fixed in place, you are ready to slide the cord right out of the frames. Do not give up if you are not able to get this right at the first try but do proceed gently. Try again with patience and you will be able to get it right.

Now, that you have been provided with some tips on how to fix your rimless spectacles at home, you will no longer need to take it to the stores when you have a minor problem with it. Just ensure you get your repair kit together so that whenever you need, you have the tools ready.
